About Us

About How to Repel

We publish free, practical guides that help you solve real home and pest problems — with clear steps you can use today.

Who We Are

How to Repel is an independent guide site run by a small editorial team and topic contributors. We are not a pest-control company, security vendor, or product retailer — we exist to explain what works, what to avoid, and how to act when everyday problems show up.

Our core focus is pest control, wildlife deterrence, and home defense. Some older guides also cover cleaning and related household topics. Everything we publish is free to read — no paywalls.

Why This Site Exists

A lot of problem-solving content online is too vague to use, buried in jargon, or written mainly to sell a product. We aim for the opposite: clear, step-by-step guidance grounded in credible sources, written for people who need a plan today.

Whether you are dealing with ants in the kitchen, rabbits in the garden, or spiders indoors, you should leave with actions you can actually follow.

How We Write Our Guides

Every guide on How to Repel follows the same editorial process:

  1. Research first. We start with primary sources — EPA, CDC, university extension offices, NPS, industry standards, and peer-reviewed references where available.
  2. Lead with the answer. Each article opens with a Quick Answer or Key Takeaways so you know what to do before reading the full explanation.
  3. Step-by-step structure. Methods are ordered by practicality, with safety notes where chemicals, wildlife, pets, or medical topics are involved.
  4. Editorial review. Guides are checked for clarity, usefulness, and safety notes before publishing. We update articles when methods, regulations, or best practices change.
  5. Transparency. We do not invent traffic totals, view counts, or star ratings. If we recommend a product, we disclose affiliate relationships where applicable.
